ADRC Better Your Balance: Stepping On Program

Better Your Balance: Stepping On is a 7-week program, evidence-based Fall Prevention Program.

During the Stepping On program, participants will have an opportunity to work with a variety of guest experts (physical therapist, vision expert, pharmacist, and someone from the Police and/or Fire Department) to learn about steps they can take to prevent falls from happening in the future. 

Below are the dates/times of their upcoming programs.

Mosinee- St. John’s Lutheran Church

Tuesdays, March 4- April 15

10:00 AM -12:00 PM

Rothschild- Riverside Fire Department

Tuesdays, March 11- April 22

9:30 AM -11:30 AM

Winter Safety Tips for Older Adults

While the weather may warm up this week, don’t let that fool you. Currently, the weather forecast shows highs in the negatives starting on Sunday.

Take a look at the winter safety tips for older adults below. It gives a lot of great precautions to take to remain safe.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for a Volunteer to help with our Intake Process.

Intake Volunteers are responsible for completing a Home Visit with new care recipients. The home visit can be completed in person or over the phone. The Intake Volunteer will assess whether the care recipient will be a good fit for our program based on their needs and answer any questions they may have. Once the Home Visit is completed, the Intake Volunteer will write a summary and return it to the FIAMC office.

Rainy Day Activities

Staying active and engaged is important for people of all ages, especially older adults. On days like today, don’t let the rain dampen your activities.

Below are some fun indoor activities:

-Read a book

-Play cards

-Arts & crafts

-Watch movies

-Try a new recipe

-Exercise

-Call a friend or family member

-Schedule a friendly visit with a FIAMC Volunteer

Faith in Action of Marathon County (FIAMC) Volunteers would love to spend time with you doing any of the above.

If you are a current FIAMC Care Receiver, please call our office to schedule a friendly visit in-person or over the phone.

Interested in friendly visiting? FIAMC is growing and accepting applications for Care Receivers.

You must be 60 or over, reside in Marathon County, and be fully ambulatory. We do not accept individuals with a diagnosis of Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

To receive an application, you can print one off our website or call our office and we can mail you one. Our business hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
