Family Caregiver Resource Fair

We are excited to partner with the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin (ADRC) to have a table at their upcoming Family Caregiver Resource Fair. Come chat with us and many more organizations!

Below are the FREE services we provide to seniors in Marathon County:

-Transportation to medical appts, personal errands, grocery shopping, and grocery delivery

-Food delivery from the food pantry

-Friendly visiting via phone call or in-person

-Wellness checks.

All of our services are a huge help not only to seniors themselves, but also to their caregivers.

Yummy Recipes

Honey Vanilla Banana Bread

Have an abundance of bananas and don’t know what to do with them? Try making this yummy and healthy dessert!

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium or 2 large bananas (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • ⅓ cup ​unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1​ tablespoon ​pure ​vanilla extract or paste
  • 1 ¾ cups​ all-purpose flour​ 
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • optional mix-ins or toppings: crushed nuts, chocolate chips, peanut butter glaze or frosting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 32​5 degrees and grease a 8½x4½ inch loaf pan
  2. In a large bowl​ whisk together butter and honey, then whisk in the eggs, mashed banana, milk & vanilla. Combine well ​
  3. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda and salt
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix just until combined
  5. Pour the batter into loaf pan​. Add any toppings you’d like. If topping with more banana, slice longways and place on top of batter, cut side up
  6. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick​ comes out clean from the center
  7. Let cool in the loaf pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing

How to make a peanut butter glaze:

In a bowl whisk together:

  • 3 tablespoons melted creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

FIAMC Services & Office Closed 2/18

Due to the inclement weather tomorrow, Tuesday, 2/18, all FIAMC Transportation Services are canceled, and our office is closed.  FIAMC staff will be working from home. Should you need to reach us, please email or call our regular office number and leave a voicemail. A member of our staff will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you are scheduled to provide a ride, please call your Care Receiver to let them know you will not be able to provide transportation due to the weather. If they do not answer, please leave them a voicemail and let them know they can call our office with any questions and to reschedule their transportation need.

*When the Wausau School District is closed, our office will also be closed, and all transportation services will be canceled.*

ADRC Better Your Balance: Stepping On Program

Better Your Balance: Stepping On is a 7-week program, evidence-based Fall Prevention Program.

During the Stepping On program, participants will have an opportunity to work with a variety of guest experts (physical therapist, vision expert, pharmacist, and someone from the Police and/or Fire Department) to learn about steps they can take to prevent falls from happening in the future. 

Below are the dates/times of their upcoming programs.

Mosinee- St. John’s Lutheran Church

Tuesdays, March 4- April 15

10:00 AM -12:00 PM

Rothschild- Riverside Fire Department

Tuesdays, March 11- April 22

9:30 AM -11:30 AM

*Offered in collaboration with Aspirus Health
