Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for a Volunteer to help with our Intake Process.

Intake Volunteers are responsible for completing a Home Visit with new care recipients. The home visit can be completed in person or over the phone. The Intake Volunteer will assess whether the care recipient will be a good fit for our program based on their needs and answer any questions they may have. Once the Home Visit is completed, the Intake Volunteer will write a summary and return it to the FIAMC office.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Hunger is one of the most significant challenges facing older adults today โ€” about one in 12 people over 50 is food insecure. Rising food prices, along with other costs, have made it more difficult for seniors to have consistent access to healthy food.

There is a program you may qualify for called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This program helps older adults with low income buy the food they need to stay healthy and active.

SNAP is a lifeline for seniors who are hungry. It provides supplemental funds to older adults with low income each month so they can buy the food they need, put their resources toward other basic needs, and go from surviving to thriving.

Benefits can be applied for online at: www.access.wisconsin.gov or by calling or visiting the Marathon County Department of Social Services at 1000 Lake View Drive, Suite 400, Wausau, WI. Phone: 888-445-1621.
